Corrib Beo Strengthens Leadership and Partnerships for Conservation

Corrib Beo Announces Project Manager, Agricultural Animator Initiative, and significant corporate support for

Corrib environmental and education initiatives.

March 2025 – Corrib Beo, a local environmental organisation dedicated to heritage, education, and environmental protection in the Corrib catchment, is pleased to announce three significant developments that will enhance its mission and impact: the appointment of a Project Manager, the introduction of an Agricultural Animator role, and substantial funding support from Boston Scientific.

Jennifer Cunningham confirmed as Project Manager for Corrib Beo.

Corrib Beo is delighted to confirm that Jennifer Cunningham, who has been working in her role as Project Manager since last July, has been confirmed in her role for the coming year. With a strong background in environmental education advocacy, community engagement, and project management, Jennifer has already played a crucial role in advancing the organisation’s initiatives since her appointment. Her continued leadership  will  drive  new  and  existing  programs  focused  on  protecting  the  Corrib’s  rich  biodiversity, enhancing education opportunities, and fostering sustainable management of the catchment.

“We are thrilled to have Jen on board,” said Micheál O’Cinnéide, Co-founder of Corrib Beo. “Her passion, expertise, and commitment to education and conservation make her an ideal leader to help shape the future of Corrib Beo and the communities we serve.”

Peter Higgins Joins as Agricultural Animator for the Farming for Water EIP

Corrib Beo and the Corrib Catchment Partnership (CCP) are proud to announce the appointment of Peter Higgins as the Farming for Water Agricultural Animator. This critical role, funded through the Farming for Water European Innovation Partnership (EIP), will support farmers in implementing sustainable land and water management practices.

Peter  will  work  directly  with  farmers  across  the  Corrib  Catchment,  providing  guidance  on  reducing agricultural runoff, improving biodiversity, and enhancing water quality. His work will be instrumental in delivering the objectives of the Farming for Water EIP, part of Ireland’s €50 million national EIP program supporting 15,000 farmers over five years.

“The health of our waterways is deeply connected to the land management practices of our farming community,” said Kyran O’Gorman, Chairman of Corrib Beo. “Peter’s expertise will be crucial in bridging the gap between agriculture and environmental sustainability.”

Boston Scientific Supports Corrib Beo’s Environmental Initiatives

Boston Scientific has pledged to plant 1,800 trees across the region, with the initial planting taking place at the event and additional tree-planting initiatives planned in collaboration with CCP. The company has also funded the reprinting of 2,000 environmental education books for local primary schools and supported the development of a 3D Farming for Water diorama, illustrating sustainable agricultural practices and their impact on water quality.
