A really inspiring day @ Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, 9 November 2024.

A huge thanks to Local Authority Waters Programme and The Rivers Trust for hosting such a great conference.  Their continued support to so many fantastic community groups is proving wonders toward better water quality across Ireland.

Over the day various community groups, experts and water quality advocates presented on topics such as climate change, hydromorphology, capacity building and public participation.

A key message from the conference was that progress in safeguarding our rivers and freshwater environments lies in collaboration.  It is vital that we embrace shared responsibility for their care. Communities going forward will play an essential role in the delivery of the Water Action Plan.

Corrib Beo’s Jen Cunningham delivered the final presentation of the day, titled Our Lakes Our Legacy. It covered current initiatives being undertaken on Lough Corrib by a catchment partnership, reflecting the community ideals of the Water Action plan.
