Coláiste Iognáid students visit to Lough Corrib Hatchery
Another highly informative outdoor education session with the indefatigable John Gibbons, as Coláiste Iognáid students released trout fry into the headwaters at Derrieghter. Thanks to Salty Productions for filming the field session.
The students have been closely following the life cycle of the native Brown Trout at Lough Corrib Angling Federation & Hatchery , gaining a deep understanding of the species and the critical role water quality plays in sustaining Lough Corrib’s native trout population. As part of this hands-on experience, they released several thousand trout fry—actively contributing to the future of this important species.
